Curriculum:
Management of Places - Impacts of Natural Disasters
This Term in Knowledge Rich curriculum, we are learning about how extreme weather and natural disasters impact habitats in different parts of the world. We will be learning about the layers of the Earth and how different climate systems interact and affect the continents and countries in the northern and southern hemispheres.
We will explain the cause of natural disasters including bushfires, floods, tornadoes, cyclones, earthquakes and tsunamis and develop an understanding of how these impact the survival of living organisms. Investigations in the form of case studies will refine our geographical skills through developing evidence-based conclusions from forming questions, interpreting data and analysing findings.
The positive and negative impacts of human interactions with the environment will be explored, including man-made hazards and the actions of humans to reduce the impact of natural disasters. We will identify how the practices of First Nations Australians use principles of interconnection and sustainability in the management of places
