Swimming - Foundation and Year 2

This week, our Foundation and Year 2 students walked to Jump Swim School for a 45-minute swimming lesson.   Swimming lessons in schools are important because they equip children with essential lifelong skills that support their safety, confidence, and wellbeing. Learning to swim significantly reduces the risk of drowning, teaching students how to stay safe around water, an especially vital skill in Australia, where water activities are a big part of daily life. School-based lessons also promote physical fitness, coordination, and resilience, while helping children build confidence as they master new skills. Beyond safety and health, swimming lessons ensure every child has equitable access to water education, regardless of family circumstances. Overall, they play a crucial role in keeping children safe, active, and confident in a range of aquatic environments.

Our students have been doing an incredible job practising their floating, kicking and blowing bubbles.  Well done!

Swimming Trials - 2026

Next week, there will be an expression of interest for our Swimming Trials, which will take place in the coming weeks.  All students must be able to swim 50m confidently in one or more of the following strokes: Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke or Butterfly.

A selection of students who perform well at the trials will go on to represent Whittlesea Primary School at the District Swimming Carnival in early 2026 in one or more of the above strokes.

We are also very excited to announce that we have ordered new Football and Basketball uniforms. We cannot wait for them to arrive in 2026.
