Sport at St Luke’s – A Busy Few Weeks!
The past few weeks have been action-packed for Sport at St Luke’s, with Athletics Week, Regional Athletics, Basketball, and Cricket all taking centre stage.
Athletics Week Highlights
Our students showcased outstanding performances across a range of athletic disciplines. Three athletes, Flynn Gemmill, Rhys Cowen, and Gretta Kelly, who qualified for the Regional Championships in Albury, proudly represented St Luke’s.
While Flynn and Rhys finished outside the top three of their events, Gretta achieved an incredible first place in high jump.
Gretta then travelled to Melbourne on Thursday, 6th November, to compete in the Primary School State Track and Field Finals. She finished fourth in her age group after a countback, despite clearing the same height as the third-place competitor. A remarkable achievement and a testament to her determination and skill.
Region Basketball – Shepparton
On Friday, 24th October, both our boys’ and girls’ teams competed against schools from across the Hume Region. The girls’ team were impressive with three wins out of four matches, while the boys managed one win and showed great promise, demonstrating they could match it with strong opposition.
Division T20 Cricket Blast
We were thrilled to send a team to Mooroopna on Friday, 7th November. Stay tuned for the results in our next edition!
Other Sporting News
Congratulations to Henry, who represented Goulburn Valley at the Country Junior District Swimming Competition on Saturday, 25th October, at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. Henry delivered outstanding results:
· 1st in Backstroke
· 1st in Freestyle
· 4th in Breaststroke
Well done to all our athletes for their hard work and achievements! Your dedication, teamwork, and sportsmanship continue to make St Luke’s proud. We look forward to seeing even more incredible efforts and successes in the weeks ahead. Keep striving for your personal best and supporting one another, because together, we achieve greatness!
