Italian

Buongiorno tutti!
This semester has gone so quickly. I can't believe it is nearly half way through the year.
The year started with revision work as usual to stir the cogs of memory i.e. numbers, colours, days of the week, months of the year, animals, general greetings and responses, along with games. With collaborative START UP students in each year level chose 5 rules to use in Italian. Bravi!
Grade 3 students have been busy exploring so many concepts they have been learning about in Italian. They should be proud of themselves.
They created a booklet with a self portrait, that describes themselves. Including their eye and hair colour, age, height, birthday and some family members’ name and age. We have also been working on the telling of time. They then did a geographical study on countries surrounding Italy, as well as some of the main seas. The students have been extending their vocabulary on the topic of school as well as designing their ideal classroom - mia aula.
Grade 4 students also participated in START UP and developed their classroom rules. Students made a puppet un papazzo to be able to describe themselves i.e. name, age, hair and eye colour, tall, short and their height.
The students in grade 4 have learned how to order a drink in Italian as both the barista, shopkeeper and customer. They constructed a script with a partner, practised and performed in their sessions. They were terrific and super proud of themselves. Once they had developed basic language as a customer and shop person, students transferred this knowledge into a market scenario, constructing another script to buy fruit and vegetables in kilograms. Super proud!!
