Principal Report

We are well and truly into the second half of Term 2 and a full range of activities are taking place across our school. Our Grade 5 students have taken part in a 4 day, 3 night camp at Phillip Island. The feedback from the camp has been really good, with our students taking part in a full range of activities, including ropes course, archery, rock climbing wall, giant swing and large indoor gym.

Our Grade 3 students went to Old Gippstown Heritage Park where they got to experience a full range of activities and experiences that explore the history around the 1840s.

The importance of the values and attitudes cannot be understated. It is incredibly important and serves as a reference point for our behaviours as individuals and as a collective (our school). How we treat ourselves and each other matters. Examples of two of our key values and their associated behaviours are:

Respect

  • Smile and be positive to others around us and have a positive influence on others.

  • Greet others with ‘Good Morning’ or ‘Good afternoon’.

  • Show respect to your parents and school staff (teachers, support staff and principals).

  • Take care of ourselves, our belongings and our environment.

  • Use manners and be considerate of other people.

  • Be friendly to everyone.

  • If you see a way you can help another person ask if you can help or just do it.

  • Help each other and be compassionate to others.

  • Use kind words when talking to others.

  • Include others in your activities and games.

Kindness

What we do and how we behave makes a difference, not only for ourselves, but for those around us. Simple actions like this have the potential to change your day and the day of those around us. This comes down to what type of school we want to learn in, what type of community we want to be a part of and what type of society we want to live in. This can best happen through living the values that make us a better person, our school a better school and our society a better place.
