Pyjama Day: Support Foster Kids with Big Dreams

On Friday last week we had our National Pyjama Day. Students and staff were given the chance to dress up in their favourite pyjamas and show them off to the school. Students, families and staff donated money; it will all go to children who are in foster care to support their learning and education. We should all be proud of our efforts as we beat last year's total: we raised a total of

There were also prizes for the best pyjamas. The winners for the Best Pyjamas are listed below; they all received a Lego for their efforts

Lunchtime Clubs

Every week students have the chance to sign up for one of our lunchtime clubs.

There are a variety of these clubs, including our new Origami Club, Art Club, Yo-Yo Club, library games, maths games and our personal favourite, the new instrument club.

To sign up, you will need to ask your teacher. If you miss a week, you can always sign up for the following week, or join us for Funky Friday, where the school captains will be playing your favourite songs.

Here are some photos of students participating in the clubs:

Jaxon 6B - Library Games

Hi, my name is Jaxon, and I signed up for the library club so I can play games and meet new people. The best part about the library club is that you get to build Legos and read books. There are many different things in the library club, and I love them all.

Hi, my name is Fabian,

I enjoy the yoyo club because I get to learn new tricks and have fun. Being in the yoyo club is a great experience because I get to meet new people. Tricks that I learned are walk the dog, around the world and a bind. I love being in the yoyo club because we have a great teacher in Mr Graziano.

Year 4 Camp Stories

This week our Year 4s went on their first camp. They participated in many fun activities. Read on as we interviewed some Year 4s to find out how their first experience was at camp.

Hi, my name is Lamont

On Monday the 27th of July we got to go on our first camp. I had to get up at 6 am because we had to be at school at 8 am. The bus left at 830am. While I was on the bus, I talked to my friends about what I was going to do at camp. Once we got there, the camp guides explained the rules and showed us all the activities.

We then had our snack and lunch before moving on to our activities. The teachers told us our cabin and activity groups, and we went to our cabins to choose our beds and put our luggage away.

We went back to the meeting spot and started our activities. I did the giant swing and played in the Ga Ga ball pit. We then came back to eat our afternoon tea before going off to do our second pair of activities. It was very tiring, so we went back to our cabins to have a rest. We had pasta and salad for dinner; it was very yummy. For dessert, we had ice cream, and we got to choose what flavour topping we wanted.

We then went back to our cabins to have a shower. After this, we had a disco and watched a movie. The next day the teachers woke us up with the song “Who Let the Dogs Out”. We did a couple more activities before getting on the bus and heading back to school. Overall, the camp was really great!

Hi, my name is Diya,

Once I arrived at school, I had to put my luggage on the bus. I talked to my friends for a little while before saying goodbye to my parents and heading off to camp. The bus ride was approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. To pass the time, I talked to my friends.

When we got to camp, I was so excited that I started jumping around. Then, a camp counsellor gave us an orientation about the camp. We went back to the mess hall, where we ate while the teachers told us which cabin we were in. I then went to my cabin to find out who was in it. Luckily, both of my friends were in my cabin.

After this, we went back to the teachers to do our activities. My favourite was the flying fox. Once we finished our activities, we went back to eat our afternoon tea before doing two more activities. It was a long day, so we got to go back to our cabins to unpack and rest.

We rested for a little while before the teachers called us back to eat dinner and dessert. We then had a really cool disco and got to watch the Minecraft movie. We watched a little of the movie before going to bed.

The next day, the teachers played a song to wake us up, and we went to eat breakfast. After this, I went back to my cabin to pack my belongings before getting on the bus. I did a couple more activities before getting on the bus and driving back to Craigieburn. I didn’t have any energy to talk to my friends, so I slept. I got off the bus and was greeted by my parents and brother. Camp was definitely one of the best things that has ever happened to me.

Savien's Experience

Once we arrived at school, we got onto the bus at 8:30, and it took about 2 hours to arrive at Alexander Adventure Resort. When we arrived, we had our snack along with lunch to get ready for the day. We were then split into our activity groups and assigned our cabins.

The guides took us to our first activity, low ropes, which everyone enjoyed. Then, for our second activity, we went rock climbing, where I made it to the top along with several other people in my group. After our activities, we had afternoon tea, which included water, cake, and fruit. Once everyone had finished, we completed two more activities, and they were both amazing.

After the activities for the day were finished, we went back to our cabins to rest and unpack our belongings. After our rest, we had dinner, which included tasty pasta and garlic bread. We then changed into our pyjamas and got ready for the disco, karaoke, bingo, and a movie. My personal favourites were the disco and the Minecraft movie. At around 10:30, we went to sleep.

When we woke up the next morning, we packed our belongings and placed our luggage outside. We then had breakfast before completing four more activities, with the flying fox being my favourite. After that, we had lunch and got on the bus to head home, where we were greeted by our parents.  Overall, it was an amazing journey.

Ornina's Story

When we arrived at school, we went to our classrooms for the roll before getting on the bus. The journey to Alexander Adventure Resort took about two hours. When we arrived, our guide gave us an orientation, and then we had our lunch and snack to get ready for the day.

After eating, we took our bags to our cabins, unpacked, and met the people we would be staying with. We were then split into groups for our activities. Our first activity was archery, which was really fun. Next, we did the flying fox, which was scary but exciting. After afternoon tea, where we had fruit and cake, we played gaga ball and then completed disc golf and an orienteering challenge, where we followed clues to unscramble a word.

Later, we returned to our cabins to rest before dinner. We had delicious garlic bread, pasta with salad, and ice cream for dessert. After changing into our pyjamas, we enjoyed bingo, a disco, and the Minecraft movie. Then we went to bed to get ready for the next day.

We woke up to music at 6:00 a.m. and had breakfast, which included pancakes, toast, and cereal. My favourite was the pancakes because they were fluffy and tasty. We then completed four more activities: beach volleyball, rock climbing, the giant swing, and low ropes. After morning tea and lunch, we had time for one last game of gaga ball before getting back on the bus.

When we arrived back at school, I was greeted by my mum and little brother. Overall, camp was one of the best experiences of my life, and I will always remember how exciting and enjoyable it was.

Just a couple of reflections from 2 of our Prep students.

Hi, my name is Antoine,

The first thing we did was sit down near our buddies, and we got certificates. My favourite part was dancing with the Year 6s! The favourite part of my costume was my cool olden-day glasses. I liked watching the video of all the preps. We had several pizzas, but I only had 2. We also made teacup cookies with marshmallows and sprinkles. I had a lot of fun with my buddy during the morning and at the end of the day.

Hello, my name is Chiara,

My favourite part of the morning assembly was dancing with my buddy. I love the cookies that we made because it was very fun making it. I don’t like pizza that much, but I still had a slice. My favourite part of the day was making a crown with my buddy. I loved baking the tea cup cookies and being with my buddy.
