Book Week Parade
Our school community came alive with creativity and imagination during this year's Book Week Parade. Students proudly showcased an incredible range of costumes inspired by book characters, demonstrating their enthusiasm for reading and storytelling. From classic favourites to contemporary heroes, the colourful parade highlighted the joy that books bring to our lives.
A big thank you to our students, families and staff for the time, effort and creativity invested in making the event such a success. Book Week continues to be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate literacy, foster a love of reading and inspire young minds. We were delighted to see so many smiles, imaginative costumes and a shared appreciation for the magic of books. Well done to everyone who participated and helped make the day so memorable!
Congratulations to Ms Mallia
School Sports Victoria has recognised the outstanding contributions of Ms Andrea Mallia with a School Sports Service Award (20 years).
Andrea has been a school sport coordinator in the Hobsons Bay Division Primary and Secondary area since 2007 without missing a year. An incredible effort!
Primary Camp
Our 4-6 primary students will be off on Wednesday for fantastic camp experience at The Summit, where they will challenge themselves, build resilience, strengthen friendships and create lasting memories through a range of exciting activities.
The fun continues in Term 4, with our youngest learners in Prep looking forward to a special in school pyjama and breakfast, while students in Years 2 and 3 will participate in their very own Big Night In. These experiences are designed to foster independence, teamwork and connection, ensuring all students have the opportunity to enjoy the excitement and community spirit that camps and special events provide.

Wellbeing Week Term 3
What a fantastic Wellbeing Week we have had in Term 3. The students participated in constructing several events:
- Monday- The Affirmation Tree,
- Tuesday- Casual Clothes Day.
- Wednesday-Breakfast Program (Alexiah and Mariam) and RUOK Cookies-constructed skillfully and with a lot of fun by Miley, Praise, Giselle and Elenoa.
- Thursday-Badge Making
- Friday-Fake Tattoos
Operation Newstart
Sienna successfully completed her placement with many positive accolades. Congratulations Sienna!
Organised by our Whole School Numeracy Leader Katherine Lim, GATEWAYS ran two workshops for high abilities primary students in mathematics and inquiry. Bayside also hosted students from local primary schools for a day of enrichment activities, challenging mathematical investigations and collaborative problem-solving. Students embraced the opportunity to extend their skills, think creatively, and connect with peers who share a passion for mathematics.
Well done to Charlotte, Saniya, Sophie, Hunter, Santiago, William, Naura, Amos & Keaunttae.
Grade 1/2 Update
Last year, students in the Grade 1/2 class entered an exciting book competition during Book Week, and they won (A signed copy of Andy Griffiths book – You, Me and the Peanut Butter Beast). When the chance for this year’s students to be involved, I couldn’t turn down the opportunity. Could Bayside P-12 win for a 2nd time in a row? (Keep reading to find out…)
The students in Grade 1/2 took part in an interactive book launch hosted by the State Library with much-loved author Andy Griffiths, who introduced his latest book You, Me and the Gigantic Knucklehead, a sequel to last year’s book.
Inspired by Andy’s creativity, our students designed their own colourful and imaginative book covers related to something “Gigantic”
Mrs Jones proudly submitted their work and once again, their creativity impressed the judges - Bayside P-12 College was selected as one of the winners.
The winning signed copy of You, Me and The Gigantic Knucklehead will first be enjoyed by our Year 1/2 students as part of their class reading before making its way into the primary library for everyone to borrow.
Their wonderful book cover designs are also proudly displayed outside their classroom and in the primary library.
Congratulations to our talented Year 1/2 students! Your creativity, imagination and love of reading continue to shine.
