Congratulation to grade 2’s who all did a great job presenting the batiks they made to their friends. JLK and JSR took theirs home a couple of weeks ago but due to some timetable disruptions JBA didn’t show their until last week. Below are some photo’s of what their batik look like together. The pattern, batik tambal, is a patchwork pattern that symbolises patching up and recovering from wrong doings. In the past batik tambal was used as a blanket for sick people as it was believed that sickness came from a missing thing that required patching.

Grade two’s have now moved onto the topic of emotions exploring the big idea: Colours and music can show how we feel. We are using the links between colours and music and emotions to explore some different genres of Indonesian music and explore interesting aspects of Indonesia related to a colour.
