A Message from Keir and Emma

Spring Family

We would like to thank all parents, caregivers, and extended family members who joined us last Friday for our Spring Family Day. It was such a joy to walk through the classrooms and see students proudly sharing their learning and achievements. The interactive activities created many opportunities for children and adults to work together, explore and have fun.

SunSmart

Just a reminder that term four is a sunsmart term at BNWPS.

Any time they are outside at school in term four, BNWPS students require a sun smart hat. Sun Smart hats should either be a hat with a broad brim that goes all the way around the hat, or a legionnaires cap that has the brim at the front, and a flap at the back to protect the neck.

Baseball caps and some bucket hats unfortunately do not fit these requirements and are not considered to be sun smart.

Broad brimmed hats are available in a variety of sizes to purchase for $15 from the front office.

Students who are not wearing a Sun Smart hat during recess and lunchtime in terms one and four will be asked to  play in the undercover area.

Another important part of being sun smart is to make sure that students are regularly applying sunscreen. All classes at BNWPS have sunscreen that is available to students, and we have many students who bring their own sunscreen in their bags for application at school.

In addition, to be Sunsmart, we remind everyone that while students are at school, shoulders should be covered at all times, which means singlets cannot be worn outside.

Parent / Carer Opinion Survey

Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Carer Opinion Survey and is seeking your feedback. The survey, offered by the Department of Education, is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement.

We sent you an invitation to complete the survey. If you cannot find the invite, please reach out and we can resend this invitation to you.

The Parent / Carer Opinion Survey will remain open online until Friday 18 September 2026.

Your opinions are important to us and will contribute to identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies. The department will use the results from the survey for research purposes and to improve outcomes for students.

The survey is being conducted online and only takes 20 minutes to complete.

If you require assistance in completing the survey, please reach out to your child’s teacher, or the school if you require assistance in another language.

Looking ahead to 2027

Planning for the 2027 school year is underway. If you have a child who is starting Foundation, enrolment forms are due. Please drop them off at the school office as soon as possible. Additionally, if your child will be leaving the BNWPS community in 2027 (and they’re not a Grade Six graduate) please share your intentions with the school. Intentions can be emailed to the school office at brunswick.nw.ps@education.vic.gov.au. We are currently considering class structures and sizes and all of this information is important for this process to be a success.

We look forward to seeing you all at the Spring Magic Market on Saturday!
