Port Fest (previously called the Fete)
We’re turning Port Melbourne Primary School into a vibrant celebration of our wonderful school community, with market stalls, delicious food & drinks, games, live music, and plenty of festival fun!

Road safety
Please have a chat with your children about road safety and staying alert around traffic. We’ve been made aware of two near misses on the streets around school — one involving children running across the road in front of cars to catch a bus, and another where a student rode onto the road in front of a car. With the holidays coming up we want to make sure everyone stays safe!
Fundraiser: new drinking fountains
We are raising money to install new drinking fountains for our students. So far we have raised close to $300 and our target is $3000!
One of our main fundraising efforts is through the Container Deposit Scheme. You can support our school by nominating PMPS when you cash in returnables at Woolies, simply:
- Select “Donate”
- Enter our school Donation ID: C2000010887 or select Port Melbourne Primary from the dashboard.
Alternatively, you can call the office on 9646 1001 to make a donation.
New WhatsApp Community
From Term 4, we’re going to trial a WhatsApp Community to help streamline PFA communication and make it easier for families to stay connected.
Your class reps will move the existing class groups across, so there’s nothing you need to do. Your current group will simply become part of the new PMPS WhatsApp Community.
There will also be optional volunteer groups you can choose to join if you’d like to get involved with particular events or activities. You won’t be added to these unless you choose to join.
SunSmart policy - hats required again
As the sun is peeking back through the clouds and the UV is increasing, students are required to wear hats again. Please remind your child/ren to pack their hat in their bag and wear it while outside.
Student free days
Our final staff planning and report writing days are in Term 4. Students are not required to attend school on the following days:
- Monday 2 November 2026
- Monday 30 November 2026
