VET HOSPITALITY COOKING COMPETITION

MS JENNIFER SALVO

On Wednesday 14th May, our 5 first year hospitality students participated in their in-school round of what was formerly known as the Murray River Culinary Challenge.

Although the Culinary Challenge ceased at the end of 2024, we were fortunate to have the support of MMLLEN and Ryan and Sarah from The Orange Door Catering to continue to hold an in-school competition.

All the students performed well under pressure, as they had two and a half hours to produce a two-course meal of fish and chips and a mille-feuille. Throughout the challenge, points were awarded for taste, presentation, WHS and workflow.

A huge congratulations goes to all five students involved, Thyler, Jemma, Laura, Dakota and Jasmine, with Dakota and Jasmine named as the winners of the challenge.

A big thank you to Mel Brooks for her support of the students both on the morning of and in the lead up to! We are incredibly grateful to have her share her expertise and passion for all things food, and as a pivotal part of the food team.
