BOOK WEEK
We will be celebrating Book Week from Monday 25th August - Friday 29th August (Week 6). During this time we will have a number of activities and events taking place for the students including our fabulous Book Week Parade and Scholastic Book Fair!
Please see below for information.
Book Week Parade- Book An Adventure (K-10) open to family and friends
When: Friday 29th August, 9.15am in the school hall
What: Students are encouraged to dress up as a book character or use this year's theme of ‘Book An Adventure’. There are many websites with great ideas. Each grade will parade their costumes while the judges try very hard to choose a winner! More specific information will be sent out via Compass.
Students’ costumes will be judged on the following criteria:
- Is the costume from a book
- Creativity – Was the costume made creatively, colourfully, and does it show personality?
- Originality – Does the costume stand out from the rest?
- Effort – Did the costume take time and effort?
- Authenticity – How accurate and thorough is the costume?
Why: To immerse students in books and book characters and to celebrate the conclusion of Book Week.
Scholastic Book Fair (K-10) open to family and friends
What: Our Scholastic Book Fair brings books kids want to read right into our school.
When: Wednesday & Thursday 8.30-8.50am, 11-11.30am, 3.15-3.45pm,
Friday 8.30-8.50am + straight after Book Parade.
Why: Reading for pleasure unlocks the power of information and imagination.
How: Each year we are sent between 25-35 boxes of books for every kind of reader. They range in price from $4 - $25. Prior to the Book Fair officially opening students will have the opportunity to preview all the books for sale. They will receive a ‘Wish List’ form on which they can write any books they ‘wish’ they could purchase. If you would like to purchase your child’s suggestions you can either follow the instructions on the Wish List form to pay online, or visit the Book Fair. EFTPOS facilities will be available.
BAGS NEEDED!
If you have any bags at home you don't need (plastic, paper, material) the Library could really use them! We need them for our Scholastic Book Fair! We also give them to students who have forgotten their library bag, as well as for Scholastic Book Club, to ensure the books stay safe.
