Power to Thrive
Earlier in the term, Brayden Martin and I had the pleasure of taking a small group of our Defence students to Alberton Oval to participate in the Power to Thrive program. The program is a joint initiative between the community development arm of Port Adelaide Football Club and the Department of Defence.
The purpose of the program is to educate students by helping them identify their strengths, while also promoting positive thinking and resilience—all within a fun, relaxed environment.
Our students embraced the opportunity, stepping out of their comfort zones and supporting one another like true champions. One of the highlights was the chance to interact with the players, creating unforgettable moments for everyone involved.
It was a fantastic day of connection and growth, as our students mingled with Defence students from other schools. They participated in a range of engaging activities focused on mindfulness, goal setting, and exploring character strengths.
The students also enjoyed learning football skills alongside AFLW and AFL players. A favourite experience was tackling the inflatable Ninja course and collecting autographs from the players—an exciting and memorable way to cap off a great day.
