Year 8 Grandparents Day: Celebrating our Guiding Lights

Year 8 students recently welcomed more than 120 grandparents and special persons to Mazenod College for a meaningful morning of connection, reflection and shared learning.

The event began with Mass in the Chapel, bringing the community together at the heart of the College to celebrate the Eucharist. Guests then gathered in the Provence Centre where Pastoral Captains confidently showcased the College’s history, values, programs and guiding principles. Musical performances from talented Year 8 students brought some zest to the morning. Students then enjoyed touring the Year 7 and 8 campus with their grandparents and engaging in pastoral activities led by Pastoral Leaders that explored family trees, discussing schools 'Then and Now', letters to the future and the creation of a family crest.

The morning concluded with a relaxed morning tea, where rich conversations flowed between students, grandparents and teachers, often reflecting fondly on the past while celebrating how much school life and society have evolved. The day was a wonderful opportunity to honour the important role grandparents play in students’ lives, to pray for those who were unable to be there and to strengthen intergenerational bonds through a memorable experience.

ANZAC Day

On ANZAC Day, we paused to remember those who have served and those who have given their lives in service. Our College gathered as Ciaran (Year 12, Music Captain) performed the Last Post across the campus speakers, followed by a minute of silence.

Lest we forget.
