Staff Vs Student Showdown

On September 12th, the highly anticipated staff versus student showdown took place, drawing an impressive crowd of 40 spirited students and around 15 enthusiastic teachers. The event kicked off with an electrifying game of dodgeball, where the students showcased their agility and teamwork, clinching victory in the first round. However, the staff quickly regrouped, delivering a strong performance in the second round to even the score. The excitement continued with thrilling matches of volleyball and basketball, where, despite the uneven teams, the teachers dominated in volleyball, winning all the rounds and ultimately securing the event. The friendly competition fostered a sense of community and camaraderie, making the showdown a memorable highlight of the school year.

Year 8 Girls Program

The Year 8 Girls Program, which ran for six weeks, proved to be an invaluable experience for the six participating students. Throughout the program, they focused on developing essential skills in anger management and communication. Engaging in various activities and discussions, the girls learned practical strategies to express their feelings constructively and resolve conflicts peacefully. The supportive environment encouraged open dialogue, helping them build confidence and strengthen their interpersonal skills. By the end of the program, the participants not only gained valuable tools for managing their emotions but also formed meaningful connections with each other, empowering them to navigate challenges more effectively in their daily lives.

Le Mana Program

The Le Mana Program for Year 7 to 10 students of Islander Pasifika descent was a vibrant celebration of community connections through song, dance, and food. Over the course of the program, participants engaged in cultural workshops that highlighted the rich traditions and practices of their heritage. Students learned traditional dances and songs, fostering a sense of pride and unity within the group. This immersive experience not only strengthened their ties to their culture but also encouraged teamwork and collaboration, helping students build lasting friendships while honoring their unique identities. The Le Mana program was a beautiful reminder of the power of culture in bringing communities together.

Bounce Program

The Year 8 Bounce Program provided an engaging platform for students to explore leadership and goal-setting through the lens of sports. Over several weeks, participants participated in various athletic activities that challenged them both physically and mentally. Through team-based exercises and discussions, they learned the importance of collaboration, resilience, and effective communication in achieving common goals. The program also emphasized personal growth, encouraging students to set and pursue their own objectives, both in sports and in their academic lives. By the end of the program, participants emerged with enhanced leadership skills, a clearer vision for their aspirations, and a newfound confidence to take on challenges both on and off the field.

Bullying “No way!”

On August 16th, Year 7 students had the opportunity to watch a powerful ‘Bullying “No Way"’ performance presented by the company 'Flying Book'. This engaging and thought-provoking show addressed the complexities of bullying, showcasing real-life scenarios that resonated with the students. Through a combination of drama, humor, and heartfelt storytelling, the performers highlighted the impact of bullying and the importance of empathy and kindness. Following the performance, students participated in discussions that equipped them with practical strategies to recognize, respond to, and prevent bullying in their own lives. This experience not only deepened their understanding of the issue but also fostered a supportive environment where they felt empowered to stand up against bullying and promote a culture of respect and inclusion.
