Congratulations to Jessica, Grade 6 , who was awarded Runner-Up Debater Overall at the Royal South Street Debating Competition, an outstanding result against 54 debaters from 18 school groups. The award, presented at last Tuesday 25th August Awards Night, recognises excellence in public speaking, manner and debating skills. 

To place second out of 54 strong competitors is a remarkable achievement and a reflection of all her hard work, sharp thinking, and growing confidence. Debating asks a lot of young speakers: quick thinking, careful listening, persuasive structure and the composure to hold their ground during the debate. We're incredibly proud of this achievement and can't wait to see where their debating journey takes them in the future. Well done!

Planning Week

Next week is our end-of-term Planning Week. During this time, classroom teachers will spend a day working with their year-level team to reflect on the term, review student learning and plan for the term ahead.

On their year level’s allocated planning day, students will enjoy a full day of specialist subjects. Please see the timetable below and remember to send your child with their runners for PE on their planning day.

**Swimming: If your child is scheduled to attend swimming on their planning day, they will still attend swimming as usual. They will be accompanied by a specialist teacher rather than their classroom teacher.

Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge – Final Week!

The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge closes this Friday, 4 September, so there is still time for students who are close to finishing to complete the Challenge and make sure their reading is recorded.

A big congratulations to the students listed below who have already completed the 2026 Challenge! This is a fantastic achievement and a wonderful reflection of their commitment to reading. These students will receive their official certificates at an upcoming school assembly.

Well done to all of our readers, and good luck to those completing their final books this week!       

Swimming

Our 2026 Swimming got underway this week with 5/6 classes and Scotsburn.  Next week we have 2KG, all Year 3 and all Year 4 classes taking part in swimming.

Please ensure that you complete consent and payment on Compass prior to your child’s swimming week and if you have any questions, please contact the office.

Many classes require parent helpers to assist, so if that is something that you are available to help out with, please contact your child’s classroom teacher for further details on how you can get involved.  

All volunteers require a current Working with Children Check on record with our office and are required to complete a Child Safe Code of Conduct form.

Celebration of Learning

In the final week of term on Wednesday, September 16th (5-7pm) we have the Celebration of Learning.  

The Celebration of Learning is always a very popular event on our school’s calendar and is a wonderful opportunity for you to come along and get an insight into what your child/ren are learning at school.

All classroom spaces as well as specialist areas will be open for students to lead their families through and share their learning. Tracey and her team in the canteen will also have the BBQ fired up along with other snacks and drinks also available.
