Term 1 Operations Update

Important Reminder for All Students

As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety of our student community, we want to remind everyone about the importance of using the designated crossings on Hawden Street when crossing the road.

Ensuring your safety is a priority for us, and by using these designated crossings, you help maintain a safe environment for yourself and others

Northern courts COLA and central shade structures

Our campus is set to become even more vibrant and functional with the introduction of the northern courts COLA (Covered Outdoor Learning Area) and central courtyard shade structures. Currently, these projects have been tendered out and are in the evaluation phase. We anticipate the commencement of works in the coming months, aiming to enhance our outdoor learning and recreational spaces significantly. The northern courts COLA, positioned over our northern basketball court, promises a comfortable and versatile area for various activities, while the central shade structures will provide increased shade for students and staff alike.

Compass cards for toilets - Enhancing security and convenience

The Compass Card system for toilets is being introduced at the beginning of Term 2 primarily to safeguard our facilities against damage and ensure they remain clean and accessible for everyone. This initiative aims to foster a sense of responsibility and care, contributing to a more welcoming and hygienic environment for all students.

Should a student misplace their Compass Card, replacements are available to be ordered at the main office. Initially, these cards will be replaced free of charge to support the introduction of the system, encouraging responsibility while easing the transition to this new system. Each student is provided with a new student ID card each year for free, and the normal replacement cost for a student ID card is $10.

Additionally, each Neighbourhood Reception will offer temporary cards, ensuring uninterrupted access. For guaranteed accessibility, one toilet in every bank will remain unlocked, a measure that will continue until students fully comprehend the card's importance.

Road works update - A safer and more accessible campus

Significant progress has been made on the road works project, with the relocation of the access road away from the basketball court nearing completion. This move will not only protect our court but also streamline traffic flow through the school, significantly reducing interruptions to classes and ensuring a safer environment for all. Completion is anticipated within the next fortnight, marking a significant milestone in our campus development plan.

Locker security Upgrade

In response to feedback concerning locker security, we've undertaken an upgrade to all student lockers. The existing locks, found to be easily bypassed, have been replaced with custom-designed, laser-cut stainless steel padlock hasps, riveted securely to each locker. This upgrade, coupled with enhanced CCTV coverage, significantly bolster the security of our students' belongings.
