Year 7 Independent Reading

All of our Year 7 classes are timetabled into our libraries once a week for our Independent Reading program. In this session, students learn what it is that good readers do to decode and comprehend texts. All students have borrowed “just right books” have set achievable goals, and are learning how to use their “inner conversation” to monitor their understanding as they read.

Author of the week

Each week, our libraries celebrate a different author. This week, our Dharnya Library had a spotlight on Emery Lord. Emery Lord is the author of five contemporary YA books about teen girls who are not perfect but try their best despite their challenges. All five of her books are available for borrowing!
