English & Literacy

English classes are already in full swing! Year 7s are preparing their Passionate People feature articles, Year 8s are preparing their persuasive letters of protest, and Year 9s have just finished their songwriting assessment. We are seeing a lot of engagement from students - they are off to a great start!

Yarrabing has its first DAV Debating Team! Now that we have a Year 9 cohort, we are able to send a team to an interschool debating competition run by the Debater’s Association of Victoria. Our school representatives are Jaskirat (9R1), Tejas (9G2), Zoe (9G1) and Angad (9G2). We wish these students the best of luck with their first debate on Wednesday 4 March.

The English Faculty have also started ‘English Hub’ - a regular lunchtime activity for students to access support with their English work. Students are more than welcome to complete their English homework in the classroom, ask for advice, and ask for how they can strengthen their work in preparation for senior years of high school. English Hub is held every Wednesday lunchtime in C06 with multiple English teachers available to support.
