The Tale of Groz
By Alexis Gibbs
Once upon a time there was
A very little girl called Groz.
She wasn't more than eight years old
But oh, the stories she had told!
Her tales came from a tribe called Fry,
Their books could make a grown man cry.
But tribal life was not for her
So she set out for the town of Skur.
In Skur there were so many people
That unless you stood atop a steeple
And shouted to the crowd below
“Hello! I’ve got books on show!”
No one would glance at you twice
Preferring instead to watch some mice.
But Groz was really quite ambitious
She ran through Main Street, looking vicious
‘Til everybody stopped and stared
And with them she began to share…
Stories of a time of war
Stories made when she was bored
Tales shared around campfires
Tales of brave dragon riders
Unicorns and nymphs alike
Despairing maidens’ knightly strife
Battles to be won and lost
Chatting ladies’ goss and gloss
Whatever there was to be told
To the crowd Groz would tell all.
Groz was dubbed the Story Queen
And made a Kid Celebrity.
And all those watching home in Fry
Knew that it was Groz’s time!
