Dear Community Members,
I am very pleased with the strong start to the year at MacKillop Catholic College. We have welcomed many new members to our community, both students and staff, and the positive energy around the College has been clear from the first day.
Our Year 7 students have enthusiastically embraced secondary school life. With their camps coming up soon, they will have a wonderful opportunity to strengthen friendships and build connections with staff. A new addition for Year 7 in 2026 is an alternate programme during the camp period. This will support students who remain at school to develop key organisational and learning skills, helping to set them up well for the demands of high school.
Our new buildings have also added tremendous value to the College. The St Joseph classrooms are a significant improvement on our previous demountables, and the new Julian Building has quickly become a popular space for our senior students. It has been wonderful to see them settle so well into senior routines. With more pathways now available than ever before, it is exciting to hear students talk about their new classes, both onsite and offsite.
Our Athletics Carnival was a fantastic day. The weather was beautiful, and participation reached record levels. While this did create some challenges in getting through every event, it was ultimately a good problem to have. We will continue to refine the structure of the day for next year.
Our Year 9 students have also received their challenge to achieve the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award in 2026. Engagement so far has been very positive, and we believe this is an excellent addition to the Year 9 programme.
A reminder to families that Year 7 2027 enrolments close on Friday 12 March. If you have a sibling who has not yet been enrolled, please ensure their application is submitted before the closing date. Demand is beyond anything previously experienced at the College, and we are committed to managing the process fairly and efficiently.
I wish everyone in our community all the best for 2026. MacKillop Catholic College continues to evolve, and I warmly welcome feedback at any time.
