From Evie

As you know, gratitude for me is important, and as I reflect on the past two weeks there is so much to be grateful for.

Welcome Party Lite / 45th Birthday Party

Thank you to the organising team who were able to pivot to ensure that we still had an event to celebrate the start of the year, the opening of the JP Play spaces and our 45th Birthday!  A special publication will be sent out in the coming days to celebrate this and the virtual launch of the 2026 and beyond strategic plan.

An Amazing Staff

I have been reminded in big and small ways that the staff at Good Shepherd care for our students and families beyond the teaching and learning.  For this I am extraordinarily grateful as a leader and parent.  Many staff and parents have been meeting to discuss the individual needs of children during these past weeks.  This is a big undertaking for all involved.

Supportive and Encouraging Parent Community

As above, the parent involvement in ILP meetings is one area that your support as a parent community is apparent. I have also received encouragement both verbally and in writing from parents about the day-to-day things that happen. From time to time I have received a feedback email that encourages discussion and growth and for this, I am thankful.  I appreciate how as parents and caregivers you are supportive and invested in our school.

Student Flexibility and Persistence

This week students from year 3 and 5 have participated in the National NAPLAN testing.  As a school we treat these days as normally as possible, but we know that this can still cause worry and anxiety in some students. It has been a pleasure to see and hear that the students have shown courage and focus during this time, and I pray that their rest this weekend is full.

School Board and Other Volunteers

I am thankful for the volunteers who help throughout our community – from supporting in the library to coordinating events, supporting school sport and helping with activities. I am personally and professionally thankful for the members of the School Board who provide strategic direction for the future. Their work over the past 12 months and more have helped to bring clarity to my work in the coming few years. For their time, support and wisdom, I am thankful.
