Baruch and Tracey from Inclusion Our Way came to share with us about how some people live with disability and how we are all more the same than different. Not all disabilities are visible. 1/5 people have a disability or medical condition.

Book Parade

Matthew (Prep) "We got to go around and give people high fives. I dressed up as Mario. I liked that I got to wear my cap."

Ceddie (Prep) "I dressed up Clifford. I wanted to go as a puppy. We had a red costume and I decided it would look good as Clifford. It was a little bit scary because there were so many people but I liked dressing up."

Maxine (Grade 3) "It was exciting because everyone got to dress up as a character from a book. I dressed up as Matilda. If I was to name my favourite books it would be The Babysitters Club by Ann M Marttin, particularly the graphic novel."

Eli (Grade 3) "It was fun. I was dressed as Willy Wonka and it was really fun because there were so many other people who had really cool costumes. My Favourite book would be Bravelands. It is about a lion and other animals and it is really fun to read and it is by my favourite author Erin Hunter. "

Fathers Day Celebrations in the 3/4 Hub

And Just Like That…They Were Running!

On Friday, the 3/4 Hub took over the school grounds for our Father’s Day Open Classroom Mash-Up.

The kids and their dads and special adults had 25 minutes, a map and a scorecard, and off they went! With 30 controls scattered around the school, there was plenty of strategy, a fair bit of running and, as it turns out, some VERY competitive dads.

And then there was the Cricket Crunch…

What stood out most to all of us was the laughter. It was everywhere. Kids laughing with their dads, adults getting completely into it, and everyone just having a really good time together.

Thank you to everyone who came and played along. What a fun afternoon to share our school, spend time together and celebrate our dads and the special adults in our kids’ lives.

Guardians of the Garden

There’s a new face in the BBPS garden!

During 3/4 Hub Enrichment, our Garden Group got busy creating a new companion for Bobby McBrighton. Using old and damaged school uniforms, chicken wire and all sorts of repurposed bits and pieces, the kids created an amazing tiered skirt, weaving strips of uniform through the wire and building her piece by piece.

What was especially lovely to watch was how completely absorbed everyone became. There were busy hands everywhere, kids working things out together, adding ideas, changing things as they went and staying with it. The focus was incredible, and we were pretty proud of what they created.

And so, Bobby McBrighton is no longer alone. He now has Belinda by his side, and together they shall RULE the garden beds, keep watch over our veggies and cheer on everything to GROW!

Our Garden Group also managed to get all six of our worm composting bins ready to go, so there is plenty happening in the garden.
