A Jam-Packed fortnight at BBPS

Term 3 is always big but these past 2 weeks have been huge! Here are some highlights about what has been happening.

A huge thank you to all the dads and teachers who took to the field on Saturday for a fantastic game of footy, and to our families who baked and generously volunteered their time at the stalls. It was an exciting game that went both ways, with Brighton Primary kicking the final couple of goals to take the win, but the atmosphere throughout the day was amazing and showcased the strong community spirit of BBPS. A wonderful day for everyone involved. Go Dreamers!

We had our first 2027 Prep transition session on Wednesday. This was full of big, warm smiles and excited little faces. Our new Preps were so brave as they explored, built, drew and shared stories about their families and pets. The parents jumped right in too, getting to know their new friends and sharing their hopes for their little darlings as they start school. We think we are going to have a lot of fun with this bunch!

Our Athletics Carnival was a great day of participation and effort from all students. We congratulate everyone who competed and wish our District Team all the best for their events on Monday. A huge thanks goes to Mr A for an amazing day (even the weather). We are very grateful for all of the time he takes when organising these events. Thanks also to our wonderful families who helped facilitate the day- we can’t do this without you either. We also had an eventful P-2 Kaboom Sports day. thanks to the parents who joined the fun and helped out.

Our Book Parade was another wonderful highlight, with it bringing plenty of colour, creativity and excitement to the school on Tuesday. Characters from classics like 101 Dalmatians, The Smurfs, Harry Potter, Anne of Green Gables, The Lorax, just to name a few. A huge thank you to Mr Stock and our fantastic Library Captains, Kurt and Mason, who kept everyone entertained throughout the parade and with some fun book trivia. We were also lucky to welcome children from The Hive and St Peter’s Kindergarten, who joined us to watch the parade and helped make the event even more special.

We were fortunate to welcome Baruch and Tracey from Inclusion Our Way today, who shared their experiences and helped our students develop a deeper understanding of disability, accessibility and inclusion. Through engaging discussions and activities, students explored how innovation and technology can remove barriers and learned that even small actions can make a meaningful difference in helping everyone feel valued and included. This supports our focus on empathy and inclusion. A huge thank you to Baruch and Tracey for sharing their stories and inspiring our students to think about how we can all contribute to a more inclusive community.

A couple of events that are coming up are Prep-2 swimming beginning next week and the ever exciting ¾ camp. We wish both swimmers and campers all the best and look forward to their update in the next newsletter.

Student Class Placement for 2027

It is hard to believe that we are already at ‘that time of year’ again, where we start to plan school structures for 2027.

If your child will be leaving Brighton Beach Primary School at the end of this year, please notify the school as soon as possible, in writing to the admin office brighton.beach.ps@education.vic.gov.au. Early notification is greatly appreciated and helps us with workforce planning processes.

In accordance with our Class Placement of Students Policy, parents who wish to make a specific placement request should provide this request to Bev in writing by the end of Term 3. We ask that families please respect the professional judgement of our staff in this process. Class structures and student groupings are carefully considered by the leadership team, with teachers’ professional knowledge and the needs of all students taken into account. We trust that our families will allow us to manage this process thoughtfully and professionally. Spelling Bee Success!

Congratulations to Amy from grade 4, who qualified for the State Spelling Bee round! She got 28/30 correct spellings in 1 minute and 45 seconds.
