Out & About with our Students

Year 12 Industrial Technology

Earlier this week, our Year 12 Industrial Technology – Metals students had their HSC Major Projects assessed by external markers. The impressive variety and quality of the projects truly reflect the students’ dedication, focus, and hard work over the past three terms. Not only did they create outstanding physical products, but they also completed comprehensive portfolios of up to 80 pages documenting their entire process.

A special thank you to Mr Hickman, who joined us at the start of the year as the Metal Work teacher and provided invaluable support to each student throughout their journey. Well done to all involved!

Year 12 Dinner Assessment

Yesterday, our Year 12 students completed their dinner assessment, preparing a three-course meal consisting of spaghetti bolognese, garlic bread, and apple pie served with cream.

The students demonstrated their ability to plan, prepare and present a complete meal while working independently and managing their time effectively. They applied a range of practical cooking skills, including preparing a bolognese sauce, cooking pasta, making and baking garlic bread, and producing an apple pie from scratch.

The assessment provided students with the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of food preparation, hygiene and safety, time management, presentation and teamwork.

It was fantastic to see the students put their skills into practice and take pride in the meals they produced.

A great achievement for our Year 12 students!

Year 9 & 10 Food Presentation Practical Activity

Year 9 and 10 students recently completed a Food Presentation Practical Activity, where they were required to present a macaron and a slice of cake as though they were preparing them for a restaurant setting.

Students focused on their presentation skills, including plating, portioning, colour, texture, balance and overall visual appeal. The activity provided students with an opportunity to apply their practical food preparation skills while considering how food is presented in a professional hospitality environment.

These were some of their creations
