CaSSSA 2026

The CaSSSA Board remains committed to providing high-quality, inclusive, and sustainable sporting opportunities for students across our member schools. In reviewing the current structure of our inter-school sport offerings, the Board has made several considered adjustments to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Association from both a resourcing and financial perspective.

From 2026, the following changes will take effect:

  • The number of weekly fixture rounds per term will reduce from eight (8) to seven (7).
  • Grass Hockey will be removed from the CaSSSA program.
  • Senior 9-a-side AFL will no longer be offered.

These decisions were not made lightly and reflect careful consideration of participation trends, financial pressures, and the evolving needs of our member schools. Grass hockey has seen a continued decline in participation over recent years, while 9-a-side AFL’s modified rules have not supported meaningful skill progression for students. Team numbers in this competition have also been challenging for several seasons.

The adjustment from eight to seven rounds is intended to improve student attendance and engagement throughout the season, while also helping to alleviate the growing financial strain associated with rising transport and operational costs for schools.

The CaSSSA Board remains focused on fostering an engaging, enjoyable, and sustainable sporting environment that encourages participation, teamwork, and school spirit. These refinements will allow the Association to continue investing in the sports and programs that deliver the greatest benefit and opportunity to our students and communities.

JNR Wolves

Our JNR Wolves program, designed especially for girls currently in Years 5 and 6 who will be joining the Mt A community, has once again been a huge success. This term, students enjoyed participating in Rugby, Basketball and Swimming, developing fundamental skills while building confidence, teamwork and connections with their future classmates.

The program continues to provide a fun and welcoming introduction to Mt A’s vibrant sporting culture, with students embracing every opportunity to learn, challenge themselves and enjoy being active together.
