School Council - Snapshot

Our latest school council meeting was held onsite at 6pm on Tuesday 27 August.

Leroy, one of our student representatives, reported back on the success of the Year 11 debating team and various excursions including an Art excursion to the Art Gallery. School captain Alexia shared her experiences at the Whitehorse Youth Forum and also discussed the Oedipus excursion to The Malthouse as well as music camp and the careers expo.

Our school council president, Liesl Coulthard, delivered a report and mentioned that she has been participating in an audit of the school council process.

Harry Ruff presented his principals report. It was noted that subject selection and course planning for 2025 is well underway. Coming up next is workforce planning and making sure we have the staff in place to run these programs.

The school continues to grow. For next year, three Year 12 classes will depart, and we will have six incoming Year 7 classes. The principal team is exploring various options to make sure that we have enough classrooms for everyone.

With all the crazy weather and high winds that have been occurring lately, it was noted that an arborist has been onsite at the school and identified multiple risks. These trees have now all been removed.

Our Parent and Community Association discussed the how the successful Comedy for a Cause night at the school was shaping up and it was noted that this could become a regular occurring event. There will be an upcoming fundraiser at the Nunawading Bunnings on the weekend before cup day.

Various policies were approved including those relating to cash handling, electronic funds management and school purchasing cards. In the future, school council will consider updates to additional policies including bullying prevention and child safety.

The next School Council meeting will be online and is scheduled for 6pm on Tuesday 15 October.
