What a busy and brilliant few weeks in 3/4!
Students became junior scientists as they explored magnetism by building their own working compasses using magnets, paper clips, paper, water, and a steady hand. They tested, tweaked, and recorded results—discovering how a magnetised needle lines up with Earth’s magnetic field. Lots of curiosity, careful observations and “aha!” moments!
Our classrooms came alive with colour and creativity as we dressed up and celebrated the wonderful world of books. We shared favourite readings, made book recommendations to friends, and talked about how stories help us understand new ideas and perspectives.
We watched You & Me and the Peanut Butter Beast launch with Andy Griffiths and learnt practical ways to build stronger characters: exaggerate a trait, add surprising details, and be adventurous with ideas. Students left buzzing with inspiration for their own narratives.
In DigiTech, students are building the skills they need to plan and produce an information report. They’re learning how to research safely and efficiently, organise notes, use headings and images responsibly, and draft with clarity using digital tools.
What’s next? We’ll combine our research and DigiTech skills to publish polished information reports, and we’ll keep applying our “author tricks” to create engaging characters in narrative writing.
