Our Foundation students have had a wonderful week of learning, filled with curiosity and creativity. It has been exciting to see their confidence grow across all areas of learning!
We explored the Flossy Rule with double letters at the end of words: ll, ss, and ff. Students are continuing to build their writing skills by using a wider range of Red Magic Words in their sentences. Another exciting step is that they are beginning to read decodable books, helping them put their phonics knowledge into practice.
Our focus in Numeracy has been on sharing and we have also started introducing subtraction. Students are practicing using mathematical language and are learning to explain their strategies when solving problems.
In Inquiry, we have started exploring the seasons of the year and will continue into daily weather. Students have looked at temperature reports and discussed how the weather changes across different seasons. They have also been thinking about what clothing we need to wear in different types of weather.
We had a fantastic time celebrating Book Week! It was wonderful to see our Foundation students bring in their favourite storybooks and dress up as their chosen characters. They enjoyed sharing details about their classmates’ costumes and showed great excitement and creativity.
In the week after next, students will participate in a Weather Incursion hosted by Monash University, which connects to our Inquiry learning. We are also excited to attend the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) performance. Please ensure you provide consent on Compass so your child can participate in these valuable learning opportunities.
We are so proud of how hard our Foundation students are working each day and the wonderful progress they are making. Keep up the amazing effort!
