Catholic Education Week

Catholic Education Week is an opportunity for all Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of

Melbourne to celebrate their Catholic identity, the pivotal role they play within their local

community and the strength of the sector.

The theme for 2025 is ‘Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you’ (Isa 60: 1).

Catholic education is committed to delivering enriching and high-quality learning experiences, guided by the teaching of Jesus Christ.

Some of our school leaders attended the Mass of St Patrick for Schools today, followed by the Concert in the Park for primary school students.

The Creative Arts Exhibition, which showcases the wonderful artwork of primary and secondary students in the Archdiocese of Melbourne, is open to the general public and concludes tomorrow.

Catholic Education Week Mass for Schools

Today we caught the train to the city to St Patrick’s Cathedral for the Catholic Education Week Mass for Schools. There was a flag ceremony with schools processing with their banners accompanied by bagpipes to start. Mass was held by the Archbishop and the other Bishops from Melbourne, it was a festive and joyful celebration of Catholic schools. Unfortunately, due to weather we missed the concert in the park but toured the cathedral instead. It was a great day!

Caritas Project Compassion

This Lent, we are called to Unite Against Poverty through Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion. By supporting Project Compassion, you’ll be answering the Gospels’ call to care for our global family and walk alongside the most vulnerable.

Your generous support this Lenten Season will enable Caritas Australia to provide life-changing support to communities facing poverty, food insecurity, lack of education, and water shortages, while building resilience against future challenges. Together, through faith and action, we can bring hope and opportunity to those most in need.

During Lent, each class will have a donation box for coin donations.

First Reconciliation

We currently have a group of students preparing to participate in the sacrament of reconciliation for the first time on Tuesday, April 1st.

Please pray for these students as they begin their sacramental journey.

Prayer for Reconciliation Candidates

Loving God,

As these young people prepare for their first reconciliation,

we ask for your guidance and grace.

Help them to understand the depth of your love and mercy,

and to recognize their own need for forgiveness.

Grant them the courage to confess their sins with humility and sincerity,

and to receive your healing touch with open hearts.

May they experience the joy of reconciliation and grow in love for you.

Amen.

Jubilee 2025

We are continuing to celebrate the Jubilee year as 'Pilgrams of Hope'. In classrooms students have been unpacking this theme and what hope means for them.

The Jubilee Prayer

Father in heaven, may the faith you have given us in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother, and the flame of charity enkindled in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, reawaken in us the blessed hope for the coming of your Kingdom.

May your grace transform us into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.

May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos in the sure expectation of a new heaven and a new earth, when, with the powers of Evil vanquished, your glory will shine eternally.

May the grace of the Jubilee reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope, a yearning for the treasures of heaven.

May that same grace spread the joy and peace of our Redeemer throughout the earth.

To you our God, eternally blessed, be glory and praise for ever.

Amen
