Around The College

ICAS 2026
ICAS (International Competitions and Assessments for Schools) is an online academic competition that allows students to challenge their higher-order thinking and problem-solving skills in English, Mathematics, Science, Writing, Spelling Bee, and Digital Technologies.
A parent email and letter were sent home last week for all students in Year 2 to Year 12. If students are interested in entering any of these online competitions, families will need to register online using the information in the letter.
Please note: Closing Date for ordering and payment of all subject areas is 11:59pm on Monday 27 July 2026.
Compassion Workshops
This week we strengthen our partnership with Compassion Australia, with a visit from Stephanie to run workshops on Wednesday and Thursday with each year group.
The workshops addressed various issues, depending on the year group, including making a difference, biblical justice, and understanding the challenges facing many in our world.
Lambing Flat Writing Competition
Young writers are invited to showcase their creativity in this year’s Lambing Flat Writing Competition. Entries are now open and free for all school students in Years 1–12, with submissions accepted until September.

Compass permissions for off-site events
We are required to have specific permission for all off-site events or excursions. Giving permission through the Compass app is quick and easy.
If you are not sure how, or have questions about how your app is working, please contact the College office. The College sets cut off dates and times so that we can finalise the event and prepare for the excursion. Unfortunately, we cannot accept late or verbal permissions.
Please complete Compass permissions before the due date so we can ensure your child’s participation.
Survey Feedback
We are thankful for the feedback we received through the surveys completed earlier in the term and continue to work through the data and suggestions for improvement. Some students highlighted quiet study spaces so…
Library Open Before and After School
This week, we have extended the morning opening time in the Library for Secondary School students. From 8:15am, students may come to the Library for quiet reading or quiet study before school. This could be a really helpful way for students to gain a little more focused time to be well prepared for the day or catch up on some homework. The Library is also open to students after school every day until 4:00pm.
Events highlights
There are many other great events being run by staff at the College, and many students who participate in these opportunities.
A couple of highlights from the last two weeks are:
- The Year 7 Camp had a great time away in Beechworth a couple of weeks ago, with many reports of a fun and formative time together. A huge thank you to our amazing teachers, Mrs Deighton, Mrs Whicker, Miss Burrows, Mr Gyles and Mr Crick!
- Well done to the Open Boys Basketball team who won Division 2 in the Regional Championship last week.
- Well done to the students who travelled to Sydney for the CSSA State Cross Country. Thank you for representing yourselves and the College so well.
