5/6O - Back In Business

Welcome to Term 3! We are excited for another wonderful term of learning. We have plenty of events to look forward to in the weeks ahead including Grandparents Day, Indonesian Day, St John Vianney’s Feast Day, School Swimming, Book Week, The Art Show and Footy Colours Day. We are also hoping to fit in an excursion or two! 

Natural Disasters - Dioramas

In the second half of last term, we investigated natural disasters by exploring different types, causes and the effects they have on people and the environment. We researched some of the most famous natural disasters in history and looked at practical ways that people can prepare for these catastrophic events. To celebrate our learning, we invited our Foundation buddies into our classroom last Friday to view our dioramas and share our growing knowledge. 

Religion - Old Testament and New Testament

Last term in Religious Education, we recognised the differences between the Old and New Testaments and learned how to locate scripture using Bible references. Through our study of Old Testament stories, we identified important morals and key messages. Our New Testament learning focused on working collaboratively to create a class timeline that depicted significant events and teachings from Jesus’ life. 

Immigration and International Connections

We have commenced our knowledge rich unit this term by looking at how Indigenous peoples from around the world have lived, the diversity of Asia and Australia’s connections with the wider world. Over the coming weeks, we are pleased to welcome parents and families into our classrooms to share their personal stories of immigration.
