Principal's Report 

Dear MPW families and friends,

Well, we are already at the end of Term 1. A ten-week term, which is a little longer than usual but has been good to get the year started, students into routines and more into the learning.

Unfortunately, at the end of this term we will be saying farewell to Xavia who is relocating to the other side of the city.  Xavia has been working in our administration team, in the receptionist role, for the last 6 years. I would like to publicly thank Xavia for her contribution to Moonee Ponds West PS over this time and wish her all the best for the future.

We recently welcomed Carla to MPW, who will be replacing Xavia in the administration team, in the receptionist role.  Carla has been shadowing and learning the role alongside Xavia and Sharyn over the last few weeks.

I want to acknowledge the 5/6 students for their overall demonstration of positive behaviours and support attitudes towards each other and those around them.  I was lucky enough to be part of the 5/6 camp to see this, and their sports day today.  Our students should be proud of the way they conduct themselves, reassure others and work with students from other schools. Well done to our teams who all gave their best today, and more importantly had a fun day. Thank you to the parents who have supported both sports days as well, your contribution allows these events to run smoothly.

Movie Night

We are keeping an eye on the weather at the moment as the forecast is rain Thursday afternoon through Friday morning.  We do need to make a decision tomorrow, as if we need to postpone the night we do need to give enough notice to the suppliers of food and the movie provider.  Fingers crossed the forecast improves over the next 24 hours!  We will make a decision at lunchtime tomorrow based on the forecast. Should the weather be kind and movie night go ahead, we urgently require volunteers to man our food stalls.  If you have some time on the night please go to the link on the Fundraising page.

End of Term Reminders

Our end of term assembly will be held at 9:05am on Friday morning in the gym. We also have a dismissal time of 2.30pm on Friday.

Term 2 Reminders

A reminder that Term 2 starts on Tuesday 22nd April.  Monday 21st is a public holiday and Friday 25th is a public holiday for ANZAC day.  So, it is a 3 day week to start the term.

We will be selling Anzac Day Appeal items and running a special assembly on Thursday 24th for students as part of our ANZAC day observance.
