Student Engagement & Wellbeing updates
On Friday 21st March we celebrated Harmony Day. Harmony day is the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.
Students were supported to have conversations about what makes us unique and special, and how we show respect to everyone in our school community. Here is some of the learning undertaken in the early years.
Teaching for social and emotional learning and respectful relationships.
In Term 2, the following topics will be taught:
Positive coping – Students develop language around coping, critically reflect on their coping strategies and extend their repertoire of positive coping strategies. Students will be supported to:
- identify a range of coping strategies to help them deal with intense emotions
- identify how we can use positive self-talk
Problem Solving – Students learn a range of problem-solving techniques to apply when confronting personal, social and ethical dilemmas. They engage in scenario- based learning tasks to practise their problem-solving skills in relevant situations. They will be supported to:
- devise strategies and plans to assist in completing challenging tasks, making decisions or resolving problems
- identify factors that influence decision-making
- identify causes and effects of conflict and practise different strategies to resolve problems.
