School Council meeting 24th March 2025

School Council met on 24th of March 2025. The meeting began by Jarrod thanking retiring School Council members - Fiona Limoli, Robert Thorp and Laura Tripp, for their dedication to the school and for volunteering their time to assist with the ongoing improvements made at MPWPS.

A special thank you to Brian Stanley for being such an active participant and for being School Council President for the past four years. Congratulations to Rick Bottiglieri, our 2025 School Council President, Ben Gibson as Vice President and Tom Rundle as Treasurer.

As the 2025 Junior School Council has yet to meet as they finalise the 2025 JSC election process, there was no report tabled. Jarrod shared some of the feedback given from the 2024 Junior School Council representatives. This was mainly positive as they felt pride in the way they contributed to the school and acted in these roles. Many students had great suggestions for future improvements around the school.

The Community Engagement and Partnerships group participated in the Child Safe Standard training for volunteers and Jarrod outlined the requirement that all school volunteers are to undertake Child Safe training. The group discussed the success of the Basket Tea and the large turn out and that Friday night sporting activities impacted the attendance from the 5/6 year levels.

The Education Committee shared their view of how the school is tracking in terms of the AIP and Strategic Plan. Some of the areas which will continue to be looked at include the launching of School Values, ensuring the alignment of the New Teaching and Learning Model 2.0 from DET and revisiting the collection and use of assessment throughout the year.

Jarrod shared the Annual 2024 Report which discussed the continued positive results of NAPLAN in 2024, the results of the Attitudes to School Survey and the positive feedback from the completion of the Capitol Works. School Council members discussed how behaviours and issues raised by students are dealt with by staff in order to increase student resilience and comfort at school.

For anybody who is interested in how School Council Operates and would like to come and observe, you are very welcome. It is a great opportunity to get some perspective on how discussions and decisions move the school forward. Please speak to Sandra or Jarrod for more detail.
