2026 Opening School Mass
Our school community gathered on Friday 6th February for our Opening School Mass. This beautiful celebration marked the beginning of our year in faith, giving thanks for the term ahead and asking God’s blessing on our students, staff, and families.
A big thank you to Fr Laurie for celebrating Mass with us.
During the celebration, we also inducted our new school leaders for 2026. We congratulate them and look forward to the wonderful ways they will serve our community throughout the year.
International Eucharistic Congress in 2028
Over the next three years, our Catholic community is invited into a time of preparation and renewal as we look ahead to the 54th International Eucharistic Congress, which will be hosted in Sydney in 2028. With the theme “This is My Body, Given for You,” the Congress calls us to deepen our understanding of the Eucharist and reflect on Christ’s self‑giving love.
This period leading up to 2028 will focus on strengthening our Eucharistic faith through prayer, formation and meaningful participation in the life of the Church. Sydney Catholic Schools is guiding this journey with the theme “Trust in the Lord for True Peace and Strength,” inspired by Jesus’ words, “Take courage! I have overcome the world” (Jn 16:33).
Together, we hope to nurture students and staff who are grounded in faith, courageous in hope and generous in love. As we move toward World Youth Day in Seoul and the Eucharistic Congress in 2028, may we continue to place our trust in Christ, discovering in Him the peace and strength we need for the journey ahead.
Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day)
Our Mini Vinnies team helped us celebrate Shrove Tuesday with a fun Pancake Day at school. Students enjoyed delicious pancakes while learning about the importance of giving to others during Lent. Thank you to everyone who brought a gold coin donation. All funds raised will go to Caritas Australia to support communities in need. It was a wonderful way to begin our Lenten journey together.
Ash Wednesday
Our school community gathered for our Ash Wednesday Mass to mark the beginning of Lent. Students received ashes on their foreheads as a reminder to make good choices, show kindness, and try their best to help others during this special season. It was a calm and reflective celebration that helped us begin Lent with a sense of purpose and togetherness.
Lent & Project Compassion
This Lent, our school community is invited to be a part of something incredible. Once again, we are called to stand hand in hand with thousands of others across the country and Unite Against Poverty by supporting Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion.
Last year, our school was a part of a nationwide movement that raised over $10 million to bring opportunity and change to vulnerable communities across the world. This year, with your support, we hope to have an even greater impact.
By taking home a Project Compassion donation box this year, you’ll be answering the Gospels’ call to care for our global family and walk alongside the most vulnerable. Your generosity will enable Caritas Australia to provide life-changing support to communities facing poverty, food insecurity, lack of education and water shortages, while building resilience against future challenges.
Together, through faith and action, we can bring hope and opportunity to those most in need.
Please donate today.
