Martial Arts
The children have been really enjoying their lessons with Mr Phu on Friday and I have been getting great feedback from parents also. The children will have another 6 weeks of the program.
Practising Martial Arts teaches children:
- respect & Resilience: teaching children to look others in the eye, to stand up straight and try their best!
- that being 'mean on purpose' in any form is not acceptable
- strength, flexibility and control all while improving fitness
- how to use their voice and hold their body, to show their confidence
- self defence techniques and when and when not to use them
Groove Nation
This term, K-4 students St Anthony's will participate in a weekly dance program led by Groove Nation.
These high-energy sessions are designed to build student confidence and coordination while covering the Creative Arts (Dance) and PDHPE curriculum.
What to Expect:
- Modern Choreography: Students will learn upbeat routines to current music.
- Inclusive Fun: Activities are designed for all skill levels to encourage movement and rhythm.
Irish Dancing
We are introducing Year 5 & 6 students to the high-energy world of Irish Dancing! These sessions are all about fast footwork, great rhythm, and building serious leg strength. From traditional steps to modern, "Riverdance" style moves, it’s a fun, bouncy way for the kids to challenge themselves while exploring a cool piece of dance history.
Swimming Championships
We have 23 students representing our school at the Primary Conference 1 Swimming Championships on Monday 2nd March at Des Renford. We wish all competitors the very best of luck!
Cross Country
Years 2 - 6 will also be preparing for Cross Country Trials which will be held in Week 4 and Week 5 of this term. Mr O'Malley will select students to attend a trial at Varna Park. On Friday, 20th of Feburary, selected students from Year 4, 5 & 6 will have their trial at 8.15am. They will then walk back to school with Mr O'Malley.
On Tuesday, 24th of February, selected students from Years 2 & 3 will have their trial at 8.15am. They will walk back to school that morning with Mr O'Malley. If student are successful they will have the opportunity to represent St Anthony's at the SCS Cross Country Championships.
