Principal Message

Dear Families and Community,

The 2026 school year has once again begun with a buzz of excitement with our Yr 12 students heading straight off to camp with a busy 3 days of activities and adventure.  Our Yr 7 students have settled very quickly into their new environments and teachers are very impressed with the strong work ethic and effort that students are displaying in the classroom.

On Monday we held our annual Dame Elisabeth Murdoch Commemoration, this is our annual whole school event. The day recognises and celebrates the extraordinary life of Dame Elisabeth and the values that she lived by. The Dame Elisabeth Murdoch Community Award was presented to Kiara Mavondo, our current college captain. Kiara embodies our college values of Respect, Empowerment, Aspiration, Courage and Honesty. Our 'Live Your Values' award, presented to Year 9 student, Grace Jung. Congratulations to these two outstanding students.

Students across the school are looking exceptional in their uniform and we have very few students not meeting expectations. A reminder to all families that the college uniform shop hours are on our website and students must have either black leather school shoes or a triple black runner.

The current college uniform is both comfortable and smart and students, when wearing our uniform, represent the college. Whether that is at school or in the local community, whilst wearing our college uniform it is expected that all students will display the highest of integrity in everything that they do, demonstrating both their individual values and that of the college - Respect, Empowerment, Aspiration, Courage, Honesty. It is wonderful when we receive messages from the public regarding the behaviour or support to community members that our students display and I encourage all parents to discuss this with their children.

The beginning of the school year also offers the opportunity for parents to join our college council. Being a member of college council is a valuable and important role. You work with us to drive improvement strategies, be a voice for the community and represent the wide student population that we have. Our current school council team are exceptional and highly appreciated by the college, a great community school will, and requires, the backing and consistent support of its community. I strongly encourage all parents to consider nominating themselves for a position.

Our Swimming carnival is not far away - this is a great day for all students and staff and a tremendous amount of work occurs behind the scenes to move the whole college off site for the day. Please ensure your children attend the day and encourage them to participate in all available events, each sub-school is highly competitive and after the elusive win!

As always, please if you have any concerns or even positive feedback please get in contact with the college. You can access your child's teachers through compass and they will provide the supports that are required, towards the end of this term we will have parent/student/teacher conferences and this is a great time to meet our staff and see the amazing things that your child is doing.

Kind regards,

Jodie Ashby
