Principal's Report

Welcome Back to 2026!
I would like to warmly welcome all our students and families back for the 2026 school year. It has been a wonderful start, with a strong focus on re-establishing routines and setting clear expectations to help everyone feel settled and confident. Students have returned with positive attitudes and a readiness to learn, which has been lovely to see.
I have especially enjoyed noticing the play happening in our yard, particularly the caring way our big buddies are supporting and including their little buddies. These moments reflect the strong sense of community we value so highly in our school.
Thank you for taking the time to walk your child safely across the school carpark. We know the afternoons can be busy where people are hurrying to get to sports or after school acitivites, so we really appreciate the care you’re showing. The carpark can get quite crowded, and your support helps keep everyone safe and sets a great example for our students. There's a link here to the school car park policy if you're interested in having a look: https://www.newhamps.vic.edu.au/source/School%20Car%20Park%20Policy%20November%202025.pdf
Thanks for working with us to keep our school community safe!
As the term progresses, things will begin to get busier with learning programs, events and activities. Please continue to keep an eye on Compass for updates, as well as classroom WhatsApp groups for more informal reminders and communication.
COMMUNICATION
Please continue to use Compass Connect (messenger function) on Compass for communication between families and teachers. See below photo, highlited icon for messaging. Narelle in the office is also there to support your admin questions.

VISITING THE CLASSROOMS
Please know that we'd love you to visit the classrooms with your child(ren) before or after school - they're open from 8.45am in the morning. Staff are in meetings Monday/Tuesday at 3.45. We really do hope to see some faces checking in!
MULTI-PURPOSE COURT
At School council this week the decision was made to remove the $66 membership fee for use of our courts, and instead open it freely for all members of our comunity. It is a great resource to have for the Newham township, we'd love to see it used more regularly. Hopefully this encourages people both within our school and wider community to have shared space for a range of sports and activities over the weekends.
