College Captains Message

As College Captains, we are thrilled to present our views about the year so far, in our new school.

The students have had the opportunity to participate in numerous events like Athletics, Cross-Country, IDAHOBIT, Reconciliation Week and a Community breakfast. We look forward to many more.

The students joyously took part in Athletics Day on the 1st of May 2024. It included events such as triple jump, long jump, high jump, shot put, discuss,100m, 200m, 400m and 800m races. On this day students displayed community-building and open-mindedness to socialise with peers. We witnessed great enthusiasm, competitiveness and teamwork from different Houses whilst cheering each other on. At the end of the day Coolup (Purple House) was crowned the Athletics champions for 2024.

Cross country was on the 24th of April. Every student ran, jogged or even walked the 3 kilometres outside the school on a custom track. Students started their day with a warmup from their house captains and ferocious chants could be heard everywhere as the determined students made their way to the starting line. The students had to run 2 laps of 1.5 kilometres to complete the race. With unwavering determination all houses put up a fight, but Warren (Orange House) was crowned the winner.

This year IDAHOBIT (International Day Against Homophobia Biphobia and Transphobia)

was on the 17th of May. It was an amazing day for students to show and build up their creativity in activities including bracelet making, badge making and colouring. The Wyndham Youth Street Surfer Bus offered games like PlayStation and Nintendo switches for students to play on.

Year 7 students have participated in various interschool sports competitions like Netball, Soccer and Badminton. The Girls Netball team won 2/3 games and the Mixed team tried their best to put on a good show. Our badminton teams won a few games as well. The boys' soccer team had gone and versed other schools and won some games too! The girls' soccer team Is under training and are going to play against the other schools in June! The boys' basketball team is also under training and will compete against school's next term!

Recently Mrs. Talevski, Mrs. Radford went with us to a community breakfast. We enjoyed ourselves during an early morning breakfast and talked with the community members from the neighbouring schools Karwan Primary School and The Grange. We had a conversation with volunteers for the community too. We discussed about what we could do to makestronger community connections.
