General News
Last week, students showed fantastic resilience during our assessment week, demonstrating persistence and positive attitudes towards their learning challenges. This data will help us plan for a successful term 3, creating lesson plans that target growth for the students.
Our Grade 6 students have begun creating their very own worm farms, learning about sustainability, composting, and caring for the environment through this exciting hands-on project. Meanwhile, the Grade 5 students have been busy experimenting with robotics, exploring coding, problem-solving, and teamwork as they design and build their own robots.
In Maths, students have been focusing on Money, developing their understanding of financial concepts through practical activities and real-world problem solving. Literacy and Topics lessons have worked closely together this week as students design creative travel brochures based on the Asian country they are researching. This integrated project has allowed students to strengthen their research, writing, and presentation skills while learning about different cultures and destinations.
During our Upstander lessons, students explored conflict resolution strategies and discussed the importance of listening to all sides of a situation. These conversations have helped students build empathy, communication skills, and respectful relationships with others.
Next Fortnight
Next week we will begin follow up units on Multiplication and Persuasive Writing. This will provide students with further opportunities to grow in these areas all while meeting new classmates and exploring interesting scenarios.
Warm regards,
The Grade 5/6 Team
