Grade 5/Public Speaking Program

Congratulations to all the year five and six students who graduated from the Advanced Presentation Skills Youth Leadership Program. This was my third time running this program at SJV and it is obvious that the students are building on their skills each year. The strong support base from the teachers, the parents and the students alike ensure a very highstandard of Prepared Speeches, Off the Cuff Speeches and evaluations.

All prepared speeches were of a very high standard and students utilized eye contact, gesturesand vocal variety. Best of all they also incorporated some humor which the audience appreciated.  Special thanks to all the Masters of Ceremonies Tony , Elaria , Esther , Evie, and Senuli  for their fine efforts, and to the  Off the Cuff Presenters, Emily, Nickolas  Derek  Jessie  and Amelia for their excellent work.

We had some very funny jokes at each of the classes. These certainly added to the mood of themeetings. A very big thank you to all of the teachers who encouraged and supported the students work andhelped make the program a success. The graduation reflected the hard work and growth over theeight week period, with confident, passionate speeches and also great use of humor. Thank you to Mrs Wilmott, Miss Williams, Mr Mulcahy, Miss K and Miss Rose for being on the panel ofjudges and helping decide who the trophies should be awarded to.

 Three of the audience members (Giorgiana’s Mum, Jack’s Mum and Ava’s grandmother) responded to an “Off theCuff” question. We thank you for your participation and we were so glad that many parents wereable to attend to witness the students in action.In finishing I would just like to thank all the families for their support of their students, the schooland this program. 

I hope that this training stands all students in good stead for their future.
