Senior Boys SMR Football

On day two of week one, on a very wet day, Mr Martin and Mr Ferdinands took the senior boys' football team to the Southern Metro finals at Roy Dore Reserve. Successful in their pool matches, the team won three games in a row before going up against Frankston High in the SMR final. The day's efforts had taken their toll on the boys, and saw them win the runners-up flag at the end of the day. Both staff were very impressed with the solid efforts displayed by the whole team.

State Cross Country

Congratulations to the following four students who travelled to Yarra Glen to compete in the State Cross Country. Well done on your efforts to run and represent Chelt.Sec.

Thank you to our families for their support of this activity.

Volleyball Schools Cup

Once again, we had a group of senior students wanting to participate in the Volleyball Victoria Schools Cup three-day tournament, which is not an event on our usual school calendar. Well done to the Year 11 boys who approached me and requested to form a team of friends to compete and represent the college.

The team consisted of seven boys in Year 11 and one boy, Henry, from Year 7. Normally, this would seem unusual, but Henry had proven his skills throughout our Avenues Exchange and was a great asset to the team. The team worked so well together, and their support of each other was always on display. It didn't matter if a point was won or lost; they supported and encouraged each other, which was great to see. Thank you to former students, Nooka and Zavier, who came along to support the team.

Swimming Sensations

Well done and fantastic effort to Chelt.Sec's best swimmers. Representing Cheltenham Swimming Club, Ethan A., Leon A. and Riley A., all qualified for the Victorian Metropolitan Short Course Championships in July. They boys all trained extremely hard to achieve qualifying times for this level of competition

Chelt Flyers

Well done to the following Chelt Flyers. These student and staff have achieved something special and we would like to acknowledge their extraordinary efforts. If you have a Chelt Flyer that deserves recognition, please send details to har@cheltsec.vic.edu.au

Lauren H. was an outstanding teammate and support person throughout The Exchange. From the moment Lauren was announced as Vice-Captain of the 58th Exchange Squad, she went out of her way to ensure that no matter the result, this team would be one to be proud of. Always willing to assist staff and students in achieving their personal best, Lauren was at the top of mind for all voting staff. Lauren was awarded the Ross Smith 'Spirit of The Exchange' Medal, as we farewelled Avenues College, and was presented with her medal by Ross Smith.

Henry P-H. was an outstanding contributor to our Interschool Volleyball team earlier in the year and, more recently, to our Exchange Volleyball team and Year 11 team. A crowd favourite and always with a smile. Congratulations to Henry for being selected to represent Victoria in the Volleyball Australia, Australian Youth Championships. Henry will make the trip to Perth for this event during the September school holidays.

Miss Caddaye has made an extraordinary contribution to Chelt.Sec Interschool Sports. Her efforts in Term 2 are truly appreciated. Samantha Caddaye took on the coaching role of Senior Netball and Intermediate Netball in May; she also took on Year 8 Netball and Year 7 Netball in June. Training sessions were arranged and teams were organised. Thank you, Miss Caddaye.
