ASC is incredibly proud of three of our students who represented Armidale at the State Netball Championships in Sydney.

A huge congratulations to Connie Burgess (Under 17s), Ayalla Kanety (Under 15s), and Nya Quinlan, who took on the role of Assistant Coach for the Under 15s team. Over three days of competition, they demonstrated skill, determination, teamwork and outstanding sportsmanship.

We congratulate them on the way they represented both Armidale and ASC with pride and professionalism. What a fantastic achievement — well done!

Open Boys Basketball North West

ASC had a great team this year for the Open Boys. Seniors Rhys MacDonald, Busby Model, Owen Yates and Ollie Stubbs were joined by Year 10s Phoenix To’o and Joshua Sworo. Rounding out the team were Year 9s Max Campbell, Rocco Garaselli, Blake Laurie and Henrik Denherder.

We travelled to Tamworth to take part in a Gala day, needing to win all our games to progress to the next round. The boys played very well and won all 3 games, led by the playmaking of Ollie and the rebounding of Busby. The junior boys were glad to get a good amount of court time against one of the weaker teams – they showed that the future is bright as they were already playing at a high level against boys significantly taller, older and stronger.

We then had Inverell High on home soil – a team with 2 particularly dangerous players, a genuine threat if they were allowed to play to their strengths. The boys stepped up as a team and soundly defeated the Inverell boys by close to 30pts, our defence being particularly impressive in shutting down their entire team.

Our final hurdle was the ever-difficult Farrer High. They travelled to us and we prepared for a challenging battle. Farrer always bring size and strength – this time was no different. Our team however, finally had some size to match in Busby and Oliver. The game went back and forth but Farrer finished the better – scoring late and holding on to win by 2pts. Oliver played a fantastic game, as good as you could hope for, scoring 35pts and giving every ounce of effort he had.

We were pleased to learn that this meant we finished second in the North West and so we would go on to the area finals in Ballina. We travelled down and stayed a night with the assistance of Mr Cranston. On gameday we would take on the best from the North Coast and Northern Sydney – a challenging prospect to be sure.

In our games the following day the boys played with skill, determination and grit – representing Armidale with distinction. Our opponents proved too good however and we did not progress further – losing though we kept each game competitive and fought hard. The experience gained by playing at this level for all students was fantastic.

Well done to the lads for putting in loads of effort and showing considerable skill and fortitude. The juniors in particular were so out-sized by their opponents at times but just kept competing – excellent behaviour.

In a final note Oliver Stubbs and Busby Model were selected earlier in the year to play for the North West team and represented the school with excellence.

North West Cross Country Trials

21 ASC students travelled to Coolah to compete in the North West Cross Country Trials. Despite the wet and muddy conditions, all students performed exceptionally well and represented ASC with pride.

Congratulations to every student on their efforts and determination. A special congratulations to the 8 students who have qualified for the State Championships. We wish them all the best as they head to Sydney early next term!

Well done, team ASC!

Table Tennis Success

Congratulations to the (nearly-)all-conquering ASC Ping Pong team! At this week’s CHS Table Tennis State Finals in Sydney, our Year 11 superstars Dan D, Tommy N, Luke R, and Caleb F achieved an outstanding 4th place out of 10 regional champions. They placed above two Sydney champion teams and defeated other strong teams from across NSW—an impressive accomplishment.

The team also represented ASC with honour, respect, and impeccable sportsmanship throughout the entire three-day trip.

Well done to the team! We are very proud of your efforts.
