Principal's Report

Winter Reflection

With winter officially just around the corner as we pass the half-way mark of Term 2, it is very timely to reflect on all of the work that is being done across the College by staff and our fantastic students.

The recent whole school Assembly showcased a range of awards, achievements and events such as the World’s Greatest Shave, where our staff and students have collaborated to raise funds for a worthy community cause.

As Principal here at Oberon, I am really pleased at the breadth of student voice and initiative in regard to many of the projects and fund-raising efforts or giving back to the community in a variety of ways. This level of on-going involvement to highlight social causes and then create activities and events to donate, underscores the very best that our students offer to their local community.

Student Activities & Opportunities

In recent days our students have participated in a number of activities and excursions such as visits to the Geelong Tech School, Deakin University, Outdoor Education camps and the Interschools Chess Tournament.

Looking ahead our senior students have Yr 11 Exams next week and the GAT (General Achievement Test) later in June. This demonstrates the variety of curriculum, assessment and extra-curricular elements that are provided by the school to best support and challenge our students in a range of ways.

On top of other sporting events and lunchtime clubs that run each day, students are certainly offered a wide range of choices to build new friendships and connections, while being able to follow areas of interest or passion. I would also like to thank the large number of staff who give up their valuable time to coach, lead and support students with these activities as they occur.
