School Council Report

June School Council Meeting
Our School Council met on 23 June 2025, where a number of important items were discussed as part of our work to continuously improve our school and work closely with our valuable school community.
We also welcomed our fabulous new secretary, Penny Heaton.
Here’s a list of what we discussed:
Trivia Night
Wowee, what an amazing night! The video game characters came out to play in a big way. Everyone’s competitive streak came out, with special thanks to the hard-working organisers. Also a special thank you to Michael Nunan for his extraordinary quizmaster skills, keeping an increasingly energetic room on task. Trivia night isn’t complete without North Side Hustle jumping on stage and belting out the classics, with a very appreciative crowd lighting up the dance floor!
Team Kids Contract
School council decided to extend the Team Kids contract for another 12 months, for the 2026 school year. The current Team Kids contract is due to expire on 31 December 2025.
ART FOR ALL Family Fun Day
School council had a robust discussion about the appropriateness, drawbacks and benefits of having a bar serving alcohol on Sunday’s Family Fair Day. School council decided that no alcohol will be served. Alcohol will still be available for purchase at ART FOR ALL’s Friday and Saturday evening events.
Year 5 Anglesea Camp
We are excited about another year of this amazing camp, with students boarding the bus on Wednesday 3 September and returning on Friday 5 September. School council is working with the Year 5 and 6 team to ensure the risk register document is practical and comprehensive, to ensure that the camp is run as safely and smoothly as possible.
The Schoolyard Redevelopment
It is getting there! We are working hard to approve the redevelopment plan – school council is still in the process of ensuring that the new schoolyard will be a fantastic space for children. Stay tuned for updates.
School Uniform Supplier Change
APlus Schoolwear, our current supplier, has been bought out by Lowes. Uniform purchasing instructions are to be announced.
Shelter Shed Roof
School council is organising the replacement of the internal roof of the shelter shed. We are examining installing materials that are both robust and aesthetically pleasing.
Policy Review – Koorie Action Plan
The Action Plan: Aboriginal Learning, Wellbeing & Safety has been updated and noted at school council.
