Principals' Message

Mrs Dominica Bearman

Dear Parents and Carers,

Learning Together - Clarity Suite

Next week, on the 17th & 18th of September, myself, Mrs Wilson and Mrs McDouall will be attending the next Clarity Suite Professional Learning Workshop which will involve presenter Dr Lyn Sharratt from Canada, Armidale Catholic Schools personnel and approximately seventy Principals and teachers from across the Armidale Diocese. This Armidale Diocesan initiative revisits the work done with Dr Lyn Sharratt over the past eight years in our system of schools.

Right to Disconnect Laws

On Monday, new legislation in regards to employees' right to disconnect came into effect. The main focus of the legislation is to support employees' ability to disconnect from work demands during personal time.

From a school perspective, it is important to clarify this legislation also encompasses parents contacting staff after hours.

St Joseph's School is extremely fortunate to have a parent community who is committed to supporting both their child in their learning and our staff as professionals. Thank you for being committed to your child’s education, while also trusting our staff as professionals with the ability to disconnect during their personal time.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS

Over the past weeks, we have been working closely with the Armidale Catholic Schools Office to tighten our approaches to student attendance. We ask that families continue encouraging their children to attend school daily. The impact of having days off is visible in the children’s learning outcomes and continues through their life choices in years to come. The following tables show the data on missing school.
