DIY Bird Feeder- Pinecone bird feeders
With spring in full bloom, it’s the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors and get creative with nature. Making your own bird feeder is a fun, hands-on activity the whole family can enjoy — and it’s a wonderful way to help our feathered friends find a snack or two!
Try this simple DIY Pinecone Bird Feeder project using a few items you probably already have at home. It’s messy, fun, and sure to bring some chirping visitors to your garden!
Collet pine Cones
- Pinecones—whatever size and shape you can find
- String
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 2 T shortening or butter
- 2-3 cups birdseed
Pinecone bird feeder instructions
- Tie 6-8 inches of string to the tip of each pine cone.
- Melt your peanut butter and butter together until runny. If it’s too hot for little fingers, allow it to cool slightly.
- Dip your pinecones in the mixture until they are completely covered.
- Roll the pinecones thoroughly in birdseed.
- Hang in nearby trees and bushes.
