Sharna Dean-Wright & Brooke McInnes,
Dear parents and guardians,
It’s that time of year when we begin the important process of preparing classes for 2026. This is a thorough process that takes around six weeks to complete. Our goal is to create balanced classes at each year level, considering a wide range of factors. We trust our staff to use their professional judgment to ensure your child is placed in the best possible learning environment for 2026.
Once grades are finalised, no changes will be made unless there are exceptional circumstances or an error has occurred. Please read the information below carefully.
We understand the value of moving into a new class with a friend. To support this, we ask that you complete the attached Friendship Preference Form with your child. Please have a thoughtful conversation with them about who they would work well with in their next year level.
In the classroom, the focus is on learning. Students will still have plenty of opportunities to find and play with friends outside at break times. Your child will be placed with one of the students they nominate. Please note that there is no preference order to the list.
Please ensure the form is signed and returned by the due date. Late forms may not be able to be accommodated.
We understand there may be exceptional circumstances where your child should not be in a class with another student, or where there is important information we should know about your child. If you have strong and valid reasons, please email your request to brooke.mcinnes@education.vic.gov.au by the due date. Please note that requests for particular teachers will not be accepted. Requests are not guaranteed but will be considered alongside our knowledge of your child’s learning and wellbeing needs.
If your family is moving to a new area or your child will be changing schools in 2025, please inform us as soon as possible, as this impacts our class planning.
If you have not yet enrolled a Foundation student for next year, please contact the office promptly so we can finalise enrolments.
We want every child to feel comfortable and happy as they move into their 2026 class. Classes and staffing will be finalised by early December, and our Whole School Transition session will be held in the second week of December 10:00-11:00am
For students who need extra support, we provide additional opportunities such as early visits to their new areas or visits from their future teachers before the official transition day.
