 Tiana and Sophia’s NGA Journey

On the 10th of April, two of our students in Year 9,Tiana Stenton and Sophia Bezzina from our Sydenham campus were trialling for the Western Bulldogs Next Generation Academy at the Altona Crofts Reserve. The girls were picked to represent the Bulldogs and played against Essendon, Richmond, Carlton and Collingwood’s AFLW academy teams. The girls had a fabulous experience and we wish them all the best in their journey to play in the AFLW in the near future. The whole college will be watching you closely and cheering you both all the way in your dream to play in the AFLW. Good luck!

Our 9/10 Girls represented Copperfield College Kings Park for Softball at the Western Metro Competition in Corio. The girls started off the day extremely strong winning 10 runs to 4 vs Alamanda College. Our final game of the day went down to the wire with a timed-out third innings! Our girls fell agonisingly short losing 10 runs to 9 due to the 1hour time constraint placed on all games. Nevertheless, the girls demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, teamwork and terrific softball plays, earning 1st place on the day (Western Metro Champions) and qualifying for State Finals in May!

Game 2: Copperfield College (0) vs Keilor Downs (3)

Tremendous effort from all boys who represented Copperfield College Kings Park at the Intermediate Keilor Division Soccer competition. The boys began the day with a great team win, 3-1 against neighbours Gilson College. Gadisa Amin Kalif with an impressive double, including one thunderbolt from 30 yards which found the top corner. Lefteri Mitchell on the scoresheet also, tapping home from close range to give the team a 2-1 lead heading into half-time. The boys ending the day with a 3-0 defeat to Keilor Downs Secondary, although the scoreline not reflecting the even nature of the game, with chances a plenty at both ends, Keilor ultimately proving too clinical. Overall a great day of soccer on display, with plenty of positives to take into 2025 and beyond.

Cheers
